Styling with ‘Natives’

INDIGENOUS INSPIRATION AROUND THE GLOBE

Styling with native furniture accents and accessories, such as those from Africa, Asia and native Aboriginal art, is a fantastic way to create rich, earthy tones in a space as well as creating layers and textures. The organic colours, patterns and textures crafted through native pieces make inspirational spaces.

African

African furniture and accessories are great at adding texture to a space through striking patterns and shapes. A great way of integrating a touch of tribal African to your space, is through using animal skins, textural wall hangings, tribal necklaces and woven baskets. One of our favourite go-to tribal pieces is the Bamileke stool or coffee table in black or white. It’s simple and versatile, and adds a touch of Africa to any space.

Asian

We love using hints of Asian in our styling, as it creates a sense of sophistication and elegance. Blue and white porcelain accessories are an easy way to integrate this into your space. Chinese cabinets are also a stunning addition to a living or dining area, which can easily to styled to be more minimal, or incorporate further Asian styling. One of our favourite Asian accessories to use in our styling is Terracotta Horses. They are a perfect combination with consoles, buffets and large surface spaces.

Aboriginal

We love integrating aboriginal art into our styling, especially large-scale artworks. Most artworks use a combination of earthy, organic tones, which make it easy to work with a neutral palette, but pack a punch through the unique patterns and designs.
